Magog

Magogites was a nation of people identified as the Scythians or Tartars by the Greeks later on. Other tribes such as the Slavs, the Mongols, the Finns, the Hungarians or the Magyars, and the Pamiris are said to have come from him. All the Goths, including the Swedes, declared that they, too, descended from the Magogites.  Irish Celts also claimed that they are the descendants of Japheth through Magog although others suggest they are descendants of Gomer.

The Magogites and Scythians

Scythia was a nation that used to be at the north of the Black Sea in the middle of the Caucasus and Mesopotamia from the years 630 to 600 BC. They were known for their bow and for battling mainly on horseback, the two qualities also seen by the early Magogites. Scythians were identified as merciless people; awfully brutal and barbaric to the nations they invaded.

In the succeeding history about the Ashchenaz, the people closely recognized as the ancestors of the Scythians, it stated that the Magogites were just a portion of the Scythian nation who also mixed with the Ashchenaz tribe.

Magogites were long exiled and replaced by other groups of people in the prehistoric land of Scythia. This tribe has now been traced and is seen to have traveled around the world.

Gog and Magog

Ezekiel described Gog from Magog as a figure of “evil darkness” from the north and the enemies of God. Whereas, in Revelation, it was written that Gog and Magog were two nations that allied together to destroy Christ and His people in the final battle.

The Jews also changed the phrase “Gog from Magog” to “Gog and Magog”, the two great opponents of God that should be wiped out in the final battle.

When the time arrives that Satan is freed from his prison, he will trick the people on earth. Magog united with Gog, and under that power Satan rallied against Christ and His saints in Jerusalem. Thus, Gog and Magog were seen as the two entities under the influence of Satan who gathered the people to rebel and battle against God.

The Place of Magog

People of Magog or the Magogites were said to be a “great and powerful” nation that lived in “extreme recesses of the north”. Historians stated that the people of Magog were with the “Greeks called Scythians”. The Scythian dwelt in the north of Black Sea and of Caucasus Mountains, in the area now belonged to Russia.

Magogites were forced out from Anatolia in 584 BC and went back to the North of Caucasus. But while in the Middle East, they moved towards the central Asia, to the land of the ancient Mongols, Mongolia. The term Mongol is thought to have derived from the name Magog.

Syrians declared Magog as another term referring Asiatic Turkey while the Arabians connected it to an area in the middle of Caspian and Euxine.

And where are the Magogites nowadays? It is said they ended up in southern Russia.  Scythians are a large percentage of the population in Russia today.

  1. Um Gomer and Magog are brothers so its a possibility that the irish celts are doubly related.

  2. Anyone aware of a connection between the Magogites and DNA Haplogroup R1a1a. I have no documentation, only anecdotal at this time. Would like to further research.

  3. Is Magog not Red China?Surely, the Chinese must fit somewhere into the attacking picture?

  4. As regards the timing of the Ezek 38 attack by God, Magog and the others: When Israel became a state, learned men said Ezek 38 and the Rapture will be in 40 yrs time. Nothing happened, so they said, may be it will be 70 yrs. That too is now gone. I however have been saying we should watch Jerusalem (and not the fig tree) as a barometer. Jerusalem was declared the capital of Israel in 1980. Fourty yrs on, means we could have arrived… any day now?
