Jehu (name meaning him who exists) was the son of Jehoshaphat often also commonly mentioned as son of Nimshi, his grandfather. Perhaps because Nimshi was more well-known. Ultimately, God chose Jehu to be king because he knew that he could trust this god fearing man to lead the people in true worship. He appears on the Old Testament Timeline during the reign of the Kings of the Divided Kingdom.

False Worship in Israel
When the kingdom of Israel split in half the northern kingdom of Israel was brought into false worship by a man named King Jeroboam. This king started the Golden Calf cult and turned the hearts of many Israelites from God. Since that time, pagan worship had corrupted many of God’s people for a long period. King Ahab and his Phoenician wife made things worse by introducing Baal worship into the land of Israel. God could no longer tolerate this idolatry, and he authorized Jehu to become king to put an end to this problem.
Jehu is Anointed King
Elisha was a prophet of God who served under Elijah another great prophet of God. Elijah was taken up to heaven, and Elisha became the next leader of the prophets of Israel during the period when King Ahab and Jezebel were alive. After Ahab had died his son, Ahaziah came to power in Israel. Ahaziah was just as corrupt as his father. One day Elisha told one of his prophets to go and find Jehu and privately anoint him king. The prophet who anointed Jehu king wasn’t named in the Bible. While the unnamed prophet was telling Jehu about his newfound position, he also told him that he must eliminate the rest of Ahab’s lineage. Once Jehu completed this task, he would then become the undisputed king of Israel.
Jehu Fulfills God’s Judgment
Jehu gathers some of his soldiers, and they ride off to find King Ahaziah and King Joram to wipe out the rest of Ahab’s lineage. Jehu ends up throwing King Joram’s body onto Naboth’s land. Naboth was a godly man that Jezebel killed to get his land for her husband, King Ahab. So God took his revenge against Ahab and Jezebel by killing their son Joram on the same piece of land. Jehu then continued pursuing Ahaziah whom he wounded. Ahaziah escaped to Megiddo and died there.
The Death of Jezebel
Jehu then goes after Jezebel. He sees her sitting out on a balcony of her palace waiting for him, and he has a few eunuchs throw her body down. She hits the wall before hitting the ground, and she is trampled on by horses. Jehu goes in to eat and tells some of his servants to bury her body but when they go to perform this task they only find her skull, feet, and hands.
The Rest of Jehu’s Reign
King Jehu spent the rest of his reign wiping out the remaining members of Ahab’s lineage and he also wiped out all of the people who were associated with this evil king. King Jehu was able to rid Israel of Baal worship by eliminating all of the prophets of this false god. The only thing that he didn’t do was to get rid of the Golden Calf worship that was started by Jeroboam when the kingdom first split. Jehu ruled the land for 28 years before he passed away.
- 2 Kings 9:1-13 Jehu is anointed king, and God gives him the task of eliminating the rest of Ahab’s family line.
- 2 Kings 9:14-29 King Ahaziah and King Joram are killed by Jehu.
- 2 Kings, 9 Jezebel is killed by Jehu.
- 2 Kings 10 Jehu wiped out Baal worship, but he doesn’t do away with the Golden Calf religion.

MARGARET, YOU FORGOT TO MENTION THAT BECAUSE KING JEHU FAILED TO RID ISRAEL (NORTHERN KINGDOM-EPHRAIM) OF CALF WORSHIP THAT JEROBOAM INSTIGATED (SUPPOSEDLY TO KEEP THE FOLKS FROM DEFECTING TO JUDAH), G_D WOULD EXECUTE JUDGEMENT ON JEHU’S LINE ON THE 4TH GENERATION (POSTPONED BECZ HE DID CARRY OUT THE BLOODY JOB OF RIDDING ISRAEL OF AHAB’S LINE, INCL HIS WIFE JEZEBEL ). THIS, I BLV, IS REFERRED TO BY HOSEA THE PROPHET, WHEN HE IS INSTRUCTED BY G_D TO NAME GOMER’S 1ST BORN SON JEZREEL (HOSEA 1:4-5). SO KING JEHU DID NOT RID ISRAEL OF ALL IDOLOTRY & APOSTASY, BUT CONTINUED IN THE SINS OF JEROBOAM I (2 KI 10:20-31). IF JEHU WERE SO RIGHTEOUS, WHY WAS HIS DYNASTY LIMITED TO ONLY 4 GENERATIONS? IT APPEARS DOING G_D’S WILL MAY HAVE BEEN A GLORIOUS ASIDE TO CARRYING OUT HIS OWN VENGENCE & POLITICAL AMBITIONS, UPON HEARING ELISHA’S UNDERSTUDY PROPHET’S PHOPHECY & BEING ANOINTED IN SECRET–WOW! WHAT INCENTIVE! STILL, G_D BLESSED KING JEHU w/THE THRONE & 4 GENERATIONS FOR HIS “WORK” THAT HE ACCOMPLISHED (RIDDING AHAB’S LINE). WHAT DO YOU THINK?
PS: I DIDN’T COMMENT TO DISRESPECT G_D OR HIS ANOINTED IN ANY WAY. WE ALL HAVE OUR WEAKNESSES. MINE IS EVIDENT IN MY WRITING…
Thank you PA Smith. I think you make a valid point. I believe God does use our “vain ambitions” to accomplish his work and probably that was a factor in Jehu’s work.
This is more than a weakness in King Jehu. Jonathin Cahn is now making a parallel btwn Jehu and Trump ..Trump wanting to stop the infanticide of abortion. I need to know what kind of conclusion we can project, if Trump indeed is a Parallel to King Jehu. Does this mean Ivanka, Jerod and the twin boys go to the 4th generation? Im serious, too.
The feeling I have is time has accelerated. Putting everything together I have a timeline that I would rather not say. But lining up the “ring of fire” eclipse I think it’s 7 years. Each year representing 4. We shall see I guess.
Could Jehu be an analogy of President Trump?
Hillary of Jezebel? Bill of Ahab?
Yes your right Jehu is analogy for President Trump, Hillary=Jezebel, Ahab=Bill, and Joram=obama
Johnathan Chan’s new book The Paradigm reveals this modern day parallel with Trump being the Jehu ordered to destroy the evil accomplished by Ahab an his lineage .
Read the Parisian – so interesting! Most of the years in power correspond to the Clintons, Obama, etc. it says above that Jehu reigned for 28 years… how do you think that may parallel Trump’s years?
Paradigm… hate autocorrect
Yes it Jonathon Cahns new book not Jonathon Chans and I have just finished reading it. It is brilliant, and yes it tells of Trump and the Clintons and more. I recommend everyone read it.
Just finished reading Johnathan Cahn’s book The Paradigm….. Doing research and came across your words of Jahu’s and the paradigm of President Trump and Jahu…… Very interesting parallel …. History in the making…. G-d’s timing His perfect will …. His patience…. Love…. Mercy…. And Grace through His Son…. Isaiah 53. Praying always for His return 🙂
Sorry for the miss spelling do Jehu!!!!!!
Yes it can you can read the book “The Paradigm” and it puts it all together
I too think this lineage of the King Arab and Jezebel are apt analogies to the Clinton’s with Trump as Jehu. The fact that he also initiated and restored the righteous God in his reign,,would also be an analogy to Trump. I,,then, would liken the golden calf worship that was not destroyed to the bull of Wall Street, the stocks, bonds and money market. It’s interesting that Jehu keeps moving onward to clean out the house of Ahab and it’s presumed inheritors…just as Trump is fighting the underground government that O’Bama has attempted to establish. He’s going to defeat them and clean them out….because God chose him for the job of cleaning up this country.
Just a correction. Jehu was not the son of Jehoshaphat son of Asa king of Judah. It is recorded that he was the son of Jehoshaphat son of Nimshi. Jehu was part of Israel and not part of Judah. Also he was not what you would call a righteous man. He was a bodyguard to Ahab and served in the palace of Jezebel. He took part in the death of Naboth. He was a power hungry, bloodthursty man and that is why God choose him, because he needed to get Israel cleaned up and Jehu was the man for the Job
Maybe the parallel for what Trump didn’t remove is Obamacare.
So, how long will Trumps Presidency be?
With all of my heart and soul my belief’s point to His return. Trump will reign until the return of Christ. He may be the last President. When the last TRUMP blows……. keep your eyes to the sky. The Lord is coming soon.
I read the Paradigm as well and that brought me to this page. I am curious how Trump could reign 28 years? Even if we went back to 2015 when he announced his running and 8 years later it doesn’t come close. Who was the successor of Jehu?
Kahns book dates these figures by when they first enter the political scene, not the start of their rule. Trump first entered the political scene in 2000. 28 years from then would be 2028. Jehu’s son ruled after Jehu. If trump Jr becomes president then trump would still remain in the political scene for at least his first term. This would add up.
USA is not Holy Israel the true church people are and it is not a plot of earthly worldy real estate stolen from genocided natives you coveted for yourselves in Nammon minded version of fake Jesus. You people worship politicians of this world factions who forever fix nothing because they can’t fix this problem and seem to think your secular nation is special it is NOT. God has one Holy Nation and it is not plot of real estate in this world. Trump is your fuhrer you wait you will get your tyrannical leader just like the others you think it can’t happen but all nations drink of the cup and you are no exception.
I too have read Cahn’s book, and it’s fascinating and in line with the bible. What I would highly recommend to everyone is don’t let this book (Paradigm) lead you to predict the future. It’s Gods plan to do what he will. Again, just because Ahab, Jezebel, Joraboim (SIC?), and Jehu line up, don’t think God can’t change things in the future. The Bible is not a something to be used for precognition.
I have not read the Paradigm but I have read the 10 Commandments.. Doesn’t G_d say worship on the Sabbath (not Sunday, being the 1st day of course)?? I haven’t heard Trump etc. mention that.
According to the Apostle Paul it does not matter which day a person worships God. He said let no man condemn you for what day you choose to worship. The reason many Christians worship on Sunday and call it their Sabbath is because after Jesus death, those who followed Christ would meet on the first day of the week. Have communion or worship, meet in others homes or taking up offerings, etc. Jesus is the first fruit of everything. Actually everyday is a day of rest in the Lord. “Come unto me all ye who are heavy laden and I will give you rest.” Many Christians follow this scripture. Rest everyday in the Lord. God did not change Saturday from being the Sabbath. It was the first day of the week, Christ rising that the disciples and Christians began to meet. The Catholic did not change the Sabbath, Saturday to Sunday. It’s Biblical in reason’s why many Christians believe it to be their Sabbath. The first day of the week, the first fruit. Jesus Christ, King of all Kings. Praise God!
The Sabbath is sundown Friday until sundown Saturday. That is the actual Sabbath. Luke celebrated the Sabbath on the 7th day after Jesus died on the cross so no it didn’t change. The early Church in the book of acts as well celebrated the Sabbath on the seventh day. Sharee has it wrong. God does still command us to honor the Sabbath on the seventh day with the exceptions of spiritual/physical emergencies. This hasn’t changed since He set the seventh day apart as holy when He did all the way back at the beginning. Christians have misinterpreted Scripture in many ways to avoid being obedient to God’s commands. I hope this helps Rene and I hope Trump does restore the Sabbath within the framework of our nation as a day of rest to be observed every week on the seventh day of the week. It will ultimately though even if it doesn’t happen when he is President and in our time.
Folks, I respectfully disagree with all that has been written here about the correlation between King Jehu and President Trump. Yes, God used Jehu, but King Jehu was an evil king. If Jonathan Cahn and others believe Trump is a very evil man, I think they are way, way off-base. Most of what Cahn writes is conjecture, and can’t be proven by Scripture. Clearly, Trump is a chosen vessel of God, but Trump doesn’t propose evil. He is a true friend of Christians and Christianity. Jehu was evil, used to destroy evil, but not a friend of God or God’s people. All kings of the divided northern kingdom of Israel were evil. There were 8 good kings in Judah, but zero good kings of Israel. So how can Trump represent a modern-day Jehu? He can’t. Yes, he is a type of King Cyrus and John the Baptist, which I’ve written about in detail in a book which should be published by mid-2020.
God uses many types of people to achieve His purposes. The comparison of this paradigm to current events is only a template, it does not have to be repeated exactly for God to choose His means of addressing the evil that resides in The White House.
You should read the book, it does line up with scripture even down to the numbers of years in power for both Clinton’s and Obama
Had my bible app on last night. It turned off sometime while I was sleeping. This has happened before many times but not in a long time. Decided to look at where it stopped. Guess where? You’ll never guess! II Kings Chap. 9. I was very excited about what I was reading first thing this morning! A thought came to me to see if there was a relation with Jehu and Trump didnt see anything right away, but I knew this meant something. Why? Because God is always talking to His people if we just PAY ATTENTION. Next thing I know the name Jonathan Cahn appears, and I’m here at this discussion board. God is and has always been in control. His word never returns void. His Will be done, that’s all I have to say!
The idea that you can re-enact biblical narrative is not particularly helpful. We could re-enact 12 disciples following Jesus as in the Waco cult or any Eastern Guru, and the idea of re-enacting the death and resurrection of our Saviour does not even bear thinking about.
Feet on the ground, where are the folk to tell the simple gospel, the good news of Jesus alive??
Please spare all intelligent people in God’s Word this Folly ! Try to busy yourself with something you have knowledge about. Thank you.
