How Long Did Job Suffer

The Bible doesn't say exactly how long Job suffered.

Job 7:3 says, "So I have been allotted months of futility, and wearisome nights have been appointed to me." and Job 29:2says, "Oh, that I were as in months past, as in the days when God watched over me." Also Job 30:16 and Job 30:27 talks of the days of his affliction.

According to Job 2:13  his friends sat with him 7 days and 7 nights without speaking, but we don't know how long he suffered before they came or how long after they left.
He doesn't mention years, only days and months when he speaks of his afflictions so probably less than a year and more than a couple of months.

  1. What if Job’s suffering had a span of years rather than months. Would he have succumbed?

    1. That’s a good question. I don’t know but I’m guessing not. Paul learned to live with his “thorn in the side” by accepting that God was not going to heal him but he could use it to develop patience. And to learn how to glory in trials. Perhaps Job would have done the same.

      1. ” … a thorn in the flesh…”. 2 Corinthians 12:7(not “side”)

        1. You know I have come to understand by revelation that the thorn in Paul’s flesh was not a sickness but the persecution he suffered wherever he goes to preach whereas God uses it to place him in check for him not to feel too anointed.

          1. The Word says that the thorn was a demon sent by Satan to keep Him humble, in order Paul would not exalt himself.
2 Corinthians 12:7And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure.

          2. Paul’s “thorn in the flesh” (affliction), was most likely a problem with his eyes. Take a look at Galatians 4:13-15.

          3. All. Have. Leaned
            On. Your. Own.
            Understanding
His. Thorn. Was. Remembering. How. He. Killed
            The Lord’s. Children

          4. You are right. It was not sickness. In the eastern part of the world, it is used as a figurative of speech when something is nagging them. It was sent so Paul wouldn’t think too highly of himself beyond measure.

          5. What about Gal. 4:12?

          6. This is actually true the thorn in the flesh is described in 2nd Corinthians 12:7. It wasn’t a sickness, the revelation of Grace that Paul had could not permit any sickness to come close to him. It was a messenger of Satan who came to buffet him.

            King James Version
And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.

          7. With all these things anything in the Bible God did this to keep him whatever what kind of system is a Supreme Being running look at all these stories in the Bible it’s a Supreme Being and he’s messing with Joe he’s putting a thorn in somebody’s flash how does that work doesn’t that seem kind of silly you’re not a Supreme Being I don’t think but I think I could come up with better things than this and I really wouldn’t have to have everybody praise me I would be okay with them just being happy I would need everybody to praise me everyday or else

          8. His thorn is not figurative, it is literal. He really was literally tormented by demons day in and day out.

          9. Amen! I received the same revelation. I have not spoken it to anyone. However, I am pleased to have a confirmation.
            Glory to God!

      2. In the scriptures some say the thorn in Pauls side was that the enemy…Satan would attack him everywhere he went, making it difficult for him to do God’s work. When I read the entire passage, it does seem like the thorn was Satan’ hindering Paul, rather than an illness.

        1. I am not a road scholar kust a mrte man that wants to know god an serkinh a relationsjop that means something and has substance. Hod promises His children prosperity. O am not deeking moneetry wealth though what i read hear are may presumptoons o was hoping as i reas to see spmthing more concrete and something to encourage me.InY SEARCH. .

          1. eccusr mu spelling errors the keys are very small

          2. Well let me encourage you with this my friend and brother in Christ Jesus. I truly believe with all my heart, mind, understanding and experience in Christ. Paul’s thorn is whatever God allowed to buffet him and our thorn is whatever God allows to buffet us after praying and believing He will take it away and has not. End of story and end of trying to figure out other peoples thorns lol. To each its own is what I always say. Thats why the name of the thorn was not given. Live your own life experience in Christ Jesus which is the best teacher then reply. Then if the boot fit, wear it

          3. Nick, keep seeking Him in the scriptures. He wants a relationship with you too.
Draw near to God and he will draw near to you. I pray that the Holy Spirit comes upon you powerfully and opens your eyes in the spiritual realm. I pray that when you read the Bible, it comes alive to you and you have more insight and understanding.

        2. now I give all glory to God but I believe that the thorn in his flesh was something that God allowed him to see at times or reminded him before he became a Christian when he was Saul.

          1. But God forgives and forgets our sins, therefore, God is not in the business of reminding us of the very sin that he has forgiven and forgotten once and for all through faith in Christ’s blood. Remember, Satan can also afflict The flesh with disease.

          2. Please don’t be misled by whatever explanation that Paul was reminded of his past. Sister Lo and Patrick gave the best: God allows anything , anything to come to us when He wants to buffet us as a way to make us keep closer to Him and seek Him more so we won’t be derailed by spiritual wild animals —pride one of them. and God doesn’t remind us of our transgressions: whosoever the Son sets free is free indeed.
So it’s better not to try and assume the thorn in Paul’s flesh but take it simply as a thorn God deemed necessary for him not to exalt himself but remain humble before God and seek Him more instead.

      3. Well isn’t that God breaking his promises then when he said he would heal everyone

      4. A torn in the flesh didn’t mean sickness but more of persecution from the gospel. Read contextually.

        1. Yes! It’s a “contextual” interpretation. Thank you.

      5. The Word does not say. That God did not remove the thorn.. only the 3 x he asked. what if he asked the fourth time. And it wasn’t record it and God did remove it ??? We just can’t speculate or presume He never did remove it….
David says (Ps19:13) ohh. keep back thy servant from presumptuous sins. Let them not have dominion over me: then I will be upright… then v14
        Amen.

        1. The Lord told Paul”My grace is sufficient…” after he prayed for the third time to have the thorn removed. Paul therefore needed not to pray the fourth time. He got the answer he was seeking and therefore gloried in his weakness.

    2. Most sufferings create degradation that eventually ARE “a span of years” once your life flow has been altered. Any suffering will deplete your resources physically. Spiritual suffering takes your dignity as well and to the point people contemplate self destruction. Be careful to ensure you protect your spiritual self while undergoing your trial and pray against the Spirit of suicide taking control.

      1. So true.that is the times that we have to hold on, pray and trust God only.

      2. You’re a very insightful thank you for your answer MWC

      3. I can relate… Job wanted death so desperately. He said very terrible words about God.

        1. Bible says that through it all Job did not sin against God. So you say he (Job said bad things ???? Such is not recorded as a sin.!!

          1. “In all this Job did not sin with his lips.” was in verse 2:10
He curses his birth in chapter 3 &
He hopes to die in chapter 10 (both after his innocence was declared).
He repents to God and forgives his friends in chapter 42

        2. Where does it say Job wanted death? What terrible words did he say about God? Both statements are false.

          1. Job did say that it would’ve been better to never had been born. He questioned Gods reason for his tormenting afflictions. But he still trusted & held God in high regard even at his lowest state. ‘Though he slay me, still will i trust him.’

          2. In job 3 he does talk extensively about prefer never to be born, switching too why can’t I be like the kings that are dead and moves onto why is life given to those in misery. Not a stretch to say he longed for death.

          3. He cursed the day he was born. He wished it to be a black hole in time and that he wished he had never been conceived. If you read the book of Job, he doesn’t sit there and take his pain quietly. He is miserable. He doesn’t understand why God would even allow him to live if his life was going to be that awful. The Bible shows how Job wanted answers. Job said he wanted to drag God into a court room and question him if he could. He didn’t just sit and take it with a happy attitude. Even after the Lord speaks to him, he apologizes stating that He now understands how big God is and how he (Job) is in no place to question God’s doing.

          4. Yes he wanted death. Job 6: 8-12.

          5. This world isn’t eternal but our God is! Job suffered maybe for a shorter time then some and longer then others. Jesus was in the desert 40 days and was only in ministry for 3 years. His last days were horrendously difficult, but his suffering that he endured was not of this world. When he descended in to hell he suffered our punishment there. The eternal punishment that we all deserve. I’ve physically suffered for years. One affliction after another. Doctors never giving me any answers. Government never helping when they should. Friends leave have no way of supporting myself. But as I speak and spend time in the presence of my Lord he reminds me that this world isn’t where I am to get my reward. It’s all about heaven. Today I’m laying in the spare room of my mother’s and she is helping me come off of antidepressants and prescription pail pills. The doctors can’t admit me into the hospital due to over crowding from covid. I know suffering and yet I know that the promise of my Lord is for eternity not here. I have days we’re I scream and cry at my saviour and he willing carries that also, then he comforts me and fills me with my “daily bread” and I still choose to serve him worship him and glorify him with my life. Job may have used harsh words with his father but God can handle it. He’s our safe place our fortress and our council. He knows our needs he knows our sorrows. He knows what we can endure in the spirit. Oh how I wish God would choose to heal, but oh how God wishes that I would trust in all things. The point of scripture isn’t to prove who suffered more, because I’ve seen people suffer even more then I, or even Jesus on this earth. But the great and glorious truth is that My Jesus suffered my real punishment in hell so I wouldn’t have to. The word of God is complete and whole. You can’t even just take one story from its history and exclude the gospel. It is meant to be taken in it’s entirety as a love letter to his children. So if you are suffering and want something to compare it to remember the punishment we truly deserve under the law of the Old Testament, and see what we have truly been saved from. It’s not about all suffering being spread out fairly, it’s about becoming content with our lot and choosing Christ every day as our comfort and joy. Yes I can write this today and there are days that that’s a hard pill to swallow. I know the days that Job speaks of where you pray for eternity to take you and put you out of your misery. I know the days of temptation so convincing that you almost fall into the enemy’s trap. And I tell you one moment truly humbled and sitting with my saviour is enough to comfort my heart and fill me with peace. Because the alternative is Hell and eternal damnation. After all I’ve been through, after we’ve all been through (because each of us has daily trial and tribulations) heaven WILL BE WORTH IT! Keep your eyes on Jesus and let’s stop keeping score, because we didn’t carry the weight of sin and accept the punishment for all of creation to the pits of hell and find us a way out of this mess. One day we will be restored and one day we will see Jesus face to face in his glory. And that’s what gets me through yet another day of pain agony and a 25 battle against the plans of the enemy.
Praise Jesus when satan comes he chose you to endure a larger portion and your reward will be great.

        3. he NEVERspoke evil of God. He wished for death for himself, but he never once condemned God. Read carefully.

          1. Yes, I see in Job 6:8-9 where Job wanted death. In verse 9 he says,”Even that it would please God to destroy me; that he would let loose his hand, and cut me off!” He wanted God to take his life; but Job never wanted to take his own life.

          2. Roxanne, when did Yeshua as you stated, “When he descended in to hell he suffered our punishment there.“?

        4. Job never sinned against God, he never cursed God, so where are you getting that “he said very bad things to God”?? God let Satan attack Job because he knew no matter what Satan put him through Job would never turn his back on God and he didn’t!!

        5. He did not say anything negative about re read the story…

      4. Thank you Shazznem for this comment because my particular suffering has gone on for years–seven years. It has taken the form of lack of full-time employment for that long. I have been scraping by hand-to-mouth for that long and it has sapped me and I’m afraid the devil knows it. Like Job, I have wanted my life just to cease and to lie down in the grave because I feel so useless and like my suffering has affected my life flow and I feel like others often look at me and say “Where is your God?” and/or that, like Job’s supposed friends, they think I must have done something to deserve it. I know some of it is from having PTSD which has been triggered multiple times in my life, and this and many rejections for positions for which I had every qualification has left me discouraged and disheartened, another weapon of the devil. I am at my wit’s end and do not know what to do. I am well-educated, but it has not mattered and I have had to dumb down my resume to even get anything at all. Currently, I have a seasonal laborer job but it will end as the weather cools. If you and anyone else out there would pray for me, I’d be most grateful. Most people don’t understand about generational spirits (there is some question about my father committing suicide) and/or that bad spirits (like of suicide, anger, depression, negativity, or whatever is not elevating) is not of God. But I have endured, I have survived, but I desire to be free of this period of my life.

        1. I’ll pray for you.

        2. “For surely there is an end , and thine expectation shall not be cut off “. says Proverb 23:18
I understand you are suffering for long. Don’t loose hope. Jesus Christ will lift you up at an appropriate time, which is going to happen soon

          1. Thanks for posting that verse. Good to think and hope on.

          2. I have been suffering for close to 20 years with my back pain caused by degenerative disc disease. I have had 2 major surgeries of which the last one screwed me up for life. I too have wished to go on to Heaven rather to remain here in pain. I love the Lord and want to serve Him, but due to my pain and the treatments (drugs) for it I have issues with concentration and memory recall. I have an easy desk job and love what I do, but it just keeps getting harder and harder to get dressed in the morning. I would rather just stay home and deal with my pain alone rather than go to work a be in pain there. How long is too long to suffer?

        3. The Spirit of suicide is not only to take one’s life away, but to give up is suicide. Don’t give up my friend. I had a financial trial that lasted about 8 years. it was severe, but towarda the end I finally rralized I had to choose to either cry and complain or thank him and praise him. When I began to be thankful and detached from all material things,I began to just praise him in the storm and I learned to dance in it,than thats when my breakthrough came. Hang in there and praise him wether your answer is around the corner or not, praise him because you love him,not because you need an answer.

          1. God Bless you, for those kind words..

          2. Wendy, I’m in a terrible financial crisis, I feel persecuted in many ways, I know that what you did is the right approach to get out of this trial, however I find it very difficult to put it to practice, But I will try once again. Please Pray for me as well.Thank you.

          3. Thank you for this. I had had a dream about praising when there is a delay or a breach. But I had a disappointment recently and couldnt find the strength to just give thanks without complaining.

          4. Thank you for this post Wendy. This is something I needed to hear right now.

        4. Shelly, I speak to your spirit to break free from all this whether they are of previous generational thought patterns I break them all in Jesus’ Name, the power of the cross is more than enough for your freedom. Break these bondages and break these chains in Jesus’ Name, Father

        5. Shellie,
I will put you on my prayer list. It is one thing to suffer pain, but something totally different when it impacts your ability to live and pay your bills. May The God of all grace hear your cries!

        6. I am also weary of chronic pain from multiple sources. I am putting you on my prayer list. I also hope that God intervenes in your situation real soon. Never let go of the faith that God will deliver you. I know it gets real tough, but please hold on!

        7. I’m praying for you right now.

        8. Shelley, I have prayed for you. I asked that the LORD would send you a Word of Knowledge about your life and purpose. I believe that because of the time(s) we are in, that the LORD is becoming VERY jealous of our time. I prayed that HE would reveal to you your PURPOSE and that whatever HE spoke in “words” and “expectation” when HE created you–that they would not come back to HIM void. Basically, that you would walk in your calling so that you will have FULFILLMENT in your life; not just a career (carnally successful) and a decent life, but a purpose driven (His will done on Earth as it is in Heaven through you) life. I pray that the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth working through you would open opportunity for you to live and to live well; spiritually abundant and carnally secure in whatever way He sees fit. I pray that you will be so caught up in the spiritual life of abundance that the carnal life will just be a secondary thought. Nonetheless, more than a hand-to-mouth existence. I pray that what God has for you will be a “good gift” meeting your every need with no ounce of scarcity on it. Along with peace, joy, and freedom. Adding to that, :substance” in every ounce of the work He has prepared for you to do.
Don’t be downcast. You have gone through your season of preparation of myrrh like Esther before the season of perfume will begin. Face, admit, and speak out all the bitterness to clean you cup so that HE can pour in new wine without it being diluted with old wine. I rebuke all generational curses from your life and any carnal legalities Satan may have had on you. Under the Covenant of the Resurrection, I pray that the Father would break the old and resurrect new life into you that will remove any legal hold Satan had– I ask this in Jesus’ Name; so that you may receive what God has for you with peace and that there be no sorrow with it. In Jesus’ Name. May the Father grant you wisdom in this time just before the door opens for you–so that you will not take any of Shittim with you into the Promise. And so that you can minister to those who are going through what you are coming out of. May He circumcise from you every thing and every one who is not to go with you into this newness of life He has for you. That you may have joy and peace in your Promise. Hallelujah! May you be a testimony of His goodness to those who saw you suffer before the Promise was fulfilled. May the LORD come through for you for HIS NAME’S SAKE as a testament to those who watched you asking, “Where is her GOD.” Causing them eventually to ask in sincerity of heart, “How can I know the LORD? I want Him to do for me what HE did for you. Your God is real.”
Feed His sheep. Tend to His sheep. Defend the faith. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.

          1. Amen!!!!

        9. My heart goes out to you. Have a look at this response from a Ravi Zacharias open forum at John Hopkins University where a women asked about her 30 years of suffering with MS. The response begins at the 1 hr 28 minute point. One of the best responses I have heard to this question. Hope it encourages you.

          1. Thank for sharing. Insightful!!!!

        10. Shelley, what kinds of work are you still able to do? i may be able to help you.

        11. Praying for you and I rebuke the devil in the name of JESUS…Jeremiah 3:5-6
GOD has plans for you. ..seek ye first GOD….and he will send blessings that you willnot be able to hold them all. May GOD Bless you and bring peace and harmony and love into your life.

          1. What has Jeremiah 3:5-6 to do with this?

        12. GOD IN THE MATCHLESS NAME OF JESUS TOUCH This Person Please, Like Only You Can! GOD if there’s anything in this person not like you take it out IN the Matchless Name of JESUS! Restore Lord! We come against depression, suicide and anything that does not line up with your Word IN JESUS NAME! Lord I’m Thanking you in Advance for your Healing Touch IN the Name of JESUS! Please Read Psalm 91. You will be Blessed! Fix It JESUS! GOD BLESS YOU!!!!!

        13. Trust in the Lord God Almighty that says I am that I am. He parted the red seas for the Israelites and he will do it for you. He is the same yesterday, today and forever more. The bible teaches us that God is moved by our faith and not our need. He is our provider – he will never leave us nor forsake us.

        14. The Truth! Facts and Wisdom speaking from your soul.

        15. Shelly, I need for you to hold on and standfast. Be nit weary in well doing. Trust in GOD and lean not to your own understanding. You made it this far tou shall make it. That job will be yours no weapon no more on this Earth shall form or prosper against you. When, you put in your next application tell GOD to protect yiur application. Get a green glass candle make a square on a plan piece of paper. Place your entire name and after your name write, miney, employment business.com. Let it burn out. Make sure it’s a seben day green candle. Okay.

          1. The green seben candle and square paper instruction isn’t Biblical! It sounds like you’re trying to mix pagan practices with Godly prayer.

        16. Hello Shelley, 7 years is indeed a very long time. I have also suffered a long drought but one thing I have learnt is that God sets no criteria for your blessings or breakthrough.

In Numbers 23:19-20, God gave a promise to bless and that is exactly what He will do. Balaam had no choice to do the command of God.

Unfortunately we set criteria and reasons why we aren’t blessed. God will bless you and save you were you are. Full time employment or qualifications are not criteria God set for you to be saved and blessed.

God can use you were you are. Don’t think the seasonal employment is a curse and renew your mind everyday with the thoughts that sufferings of the present time cannot be compared to the glory that will come. The latter days will be better.

          Stay strong

          1. I believe in my heart that Job suffered for seven years. He lost many of his brethren, all his wealth, and suffered diseases, hunger, shame & ridicule. He was cast out from all that he knew. All of that takes time. Seven years rings true. Seven year cycles are spiritual. We must learn all that we can before being raised up again by God.

        17. Shelly, your beautiful testimony reflected exactly my life! It is identical. Thank you so much for this inspiration.

        18. Hang on & never let go. Trust Gods providential care. Seek His face continually. No matter how long. Finish the race. You’re worth is priceless to God as his child. You have an army on your side. I’ve been afflicted for many years. Sometimes unbearable. I’ll never let satan win. Never

          1. What beautiful, strong faith you have!

        19. May you endure your suffering for God as he suffers for you. Be patient and trust that this process will bring you closer to God and the wonderful purpose he has for you. Enjoy his small mercies along the way as they give you hope. We are sent on a path of redemption and learning for good reason. I too am coming up to seven years of suffering and I believe in miracles.!

          1. I believe in miracles. God draws us close through suffering. I am a willing participant on this journey.

        20. I’m praying for you right now. God is so Good, and you will come out on the other side Blessed more abundantly than you can ever imagine if you’ll just hold on tight to God and never let go, keeping your eyes on Jesus through the Holy Spirit. I know, mine lasted 14 years, but as hard as it is to imagine, I’m so Thankful to God for that time and I wouldn’t change any of it, even if I could. You are Blessed and Highly Favoured, a child of the Living God, and He Loves you so much. Please find and speak God’s Promises in His Living Word and remember, when we are at our weakest, God is at His Strongest in our lives. When we truly Surrender to God and give it all to Him, letting go of every preconceived idea and notion, beautiful things happen because we release it all to Jesus and then the onus is on Him, not us. Then, all we have to do is Love and Follow Jesus, wherever and however He Leads us. It is so freeing and I’m so Thankful for His Peace. I’ve also learned through all of this that Surrendering to Jesus is a daily thing, not a one time thing. That was a hard lesson to truly learn, but I’m oh so Thankful to God for it. I will continue to pray for you. Please know how deeply Loved and accepted you are!

        21. 7 is the number of completion so stand still and watch the salvation of God

        22. I sympathize with you. The devil has no pity for anyone. It is only Jesus who will not rest till you get freed. But the trouble is; if you have an opened door in your life via evil ancestral connections, the devil will insist on getting more than his pound of flesh. The good news is that your freedom is a sure thing. Do not be discouraged. Like Job, hold on to God till deliverance comes. You need prayer assistance from a true servant of God. You may contact me for more info. In the meantime I will pray for you.

        23. Hi Shelly, l wish I did know you, so we could pray together. I am going through the same situation as you and even longer. I prayed for employment and I have not obtain a full time one as yet. I just have to being doing odd jobs like from pocket to mouth. My suffering is long, shameful. I have been to college, did other courses, but no employment as yet. If I did have wings I would fly away and be at rest. One thing the devil has not put suicidal thoughts in my mind for God did not give him that authority. I still love my Jesus and will continue have hope, faith and trust Him, while I wait for His appearance. I believe He is working it out for our good. We will have testimony to tell other women. So we have to rest in Him and wait patiently on Him, for He made everything beautiful in His time. He will restore the years that the locust hath eaten, the canker worm, the caterpillar and the palmerworm had eaten. I will pray for you and I am also asking everyone who read this to pray for us also. This test will past in Jesus Name.

        24. Pl don’t let your trust go. God lovrs you. He sent his only son to die for us. Don’t doubt in gods love. I will pray for you.

        25. 2.5 years ago I lost my family. Wife and Children. All of my possessions and all my money. I lost all my friends and my extended family. I then had a heart attack. God didn’t take me. Thru it all I have praised Him. I am at church daily, on my knees. I will always tell Him that I am His to do with as he pleases .

          1. Love you Dan. I will hold on to your words then. Wisdom has found you.

        26. Praying God will give you Peace that passes understanding. God give you work. God spirtually bless you.

        27. I will also pray for you. I too have been going through great losses for years and years and years. Mine comes from my narcissistic mother who never loved me and cursed me from my birth. She is an absolute devil who has thwarted me from my childhood. So although there has been some good times, most of my life has been one big drag of disappointment after disappointment. Look around. You will notice that really only the wicked prosper and Jesus said this that we, who belong to him, will go through trials and tribulations because we HIS servants are not greater than HE, our Master. So in summary, #1 GOD has never abandoned me – I still ate 3 meals a day and learned a great deal on how to stretch money; #2 I still feel I lived well considering that I did have great opportunities, all that didn’t last long because naturally…the envy of the devil. #3 BUT, when I consider how much I have learned from GOD and that HE nurtured me when my own mother never did, I feel very fortunate that HE has saved me. This world is only temporary and I know that eventually, HE will turn this whole situation around for me because HE is victorious…I just have to wait for when HE says so. I have often argued with HIM that people say I have no GOD; people think I am a loser when I am really talented to the gills; even one Christian consellor told me “who would want to be like you” (meaning me); BUT, when I retorted all this to my FATHER, and asked HIM why HE is not thinking about HIS glory…HE told me, HIS glory is none of my business; and as long as I have been faithful to HIM, HE is getting glory because it is the devil that is trying to disprove HIM but my continuing with HIM keeps frustrating the devil all the more! Of course, I have cried and cried, moments of utter breakdown, but HE tells me please do not cry; it is insulting to both of us. You see? The war of GOOD and Evil is not done yet. All HIS angels are fighting in the heavens and all HIS saints are fighting here on earth, soooo, get over yourself. You will make it; you will make it because HE will see to it and this is the FAITH that HE wants. Amen.

        28. Tough times always end but tough people keep on going. Hang tough!

        29. Praying!! God will make a way.

        30. Some don’t adhere to the teaching of generational spirits or curses because at the cross Jesus paid for each individually; that’s why, “the soul which sins, THAT ONE, should die” when you accept Christ’ sacrifice it becomes personal; furthermore, I will not say, “I understand” what you’re going through, but I’m going through an illness, “Pulmonary Fibrosis” and the thought of “have the Lord forgotten me?” Has gotten there; but promptly I’m remainded that He works in misterious ways; we are his children and remember that one day we will be healed forever, no more suffering, tears, pain or desease in heaven; I feel your pain because I’m in pain also!! God bless you and don’t give up!!

        31. Hello! I just wanted to encourage you today 🙂 I too struggled to the extreme for a very long and torturous 7 years. I knew I couldn’t kill myself but I’d ask God several times a day to just please take me home. Trust me when I say God was always in control. Spiritual warfare my brother I’ll ask God for divine intervention in your situation. thank God that my precious Holy Spirit was with me the entire time and he’s with u as well. I knew God and his character and his character unconditional love I knew there was no way he would leave me in that terror. And he has been faithful and brought me into complete victory!! Now I don’t even remember the fear or the pain my life is completely restored. I wouldn’t trade a day of that pain because it forced me to rely on My Holy Spirit every second of the way. Im more in love with God than anything, hes my everything! The miracle if not there yet is def on the way. God Bless you Brother. Remember we can do ALL things through Christ!

        32. May the Lord visit you in a speacial way in Jesus name. May your morning come quickly, May you get a mother of blessings that will erase every reproach you have suffered in Jesus name

          1. Amen.

        33. God bless you Shelly

        34. I thank God for your life enough is enough, Your day has come. Jeremiah 1:10-19 just from today you’re free in the Name Of Jesus Christ

        35. I prayed for you today Shelley. Be encouraged:)

        36. I will pray also for you. I had a time that I could not find work in my nursing specialty so I understand may just a little of what you are going through. Rejection is very difficult to take. I will pray God will help you to see how valuable you truly are. God will show you what he wants you to do at this time in your life. Don’t give up!! Keep trusting him, praying, reading the word and leave the rest to him. Prayers coming your way!!!

        37. I pray for you Shelley, that God’s grace keep you through this as he taught Paul. I pray that you will yet praise God who is your help in the time of trouble and you will yet praise him in the land of the living. I pray Psalms 103 that God’s benefits will become a reality in your situation. Jesus said in John 10:10 the thief comes to kill, steal and destroy but I have come that you may have life more abundantly.

        38. I will pray for you and google st faustina Pittsburg and leave a petition to be diverted to her tomb in Krakow. It worked for my bipolar and I definitely think any mental illness is the devil.Paul

        39. Shelly,
Your email note touch my heart because I’m approaching my 7th year of not being gainfully employed and doing a lot of odds-and-end jobs too. I hope your prayers have been answered by now, but if not please know that God has something bigger for you to do. It may be starting your own business, or working in another country but He’s calling out for you. Go beyond the pain and frustration if you can, if you can’t then seek guidance from a trusted friend or counselor. I just know there’s something great inside of you that needs to come forth.
I pray in Jesus’s name that you discover what it is that you need to do that provides meaning, purpose and motivates you daily and serves His purpose for you.
          Job 42:10 is the key……
          Rod

        40. Numbers 6:24-26

          24 The Lord bless you and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face shine upon you,
          And be gracious to you;
26 The Lord [a]lift up His countenance upon you,
          And give you peace.” ’

        41. I just prayed for you. I know what it is to not understand your affliction, your suffering, to see no earthly reason for it. I know what it is to make yourself persevere year after year with no hope and no support. Praying.

        42. So in 2012 weird things started happening to me. I lost my job making $85000 a year and am still struggling, but unlike you I heard voices that were speaking just as God and the Devil were speaking do what you must just don’t harm a hair on his head. Its been 6 ruff years and I don’t think it will end til 7 yrears. Something told me A long time ago 7 years and I’m hoping that it will hold true. My prayers are for you and the others that have lost everything they ever loved just as we have. Surely it’s got to be comeing to a close. 6 months ago I heard a voice say Ed I just want you to know that the big man upstairs has you by the hand right now. Things have gotten better.

          1. I am a living Victim/Survivor of your experience. But I believe that 6 years should mark the end of such suffering. I lost everything I had including my houses, jobs and cars. I began to loose everything including my business after I sighted a bright shining star in form of a big holy Cross just above the sky around 2.52 am (9 of November 2012). This month marks it’s 6th year and I had a dream on the 6th anniversary which was few days ago proving that the suffering is over. The next day after I had a dream I received a Financial favor from God. In order to survive such attack by the Devil, you need to be holy and avoid sinful talks or deed. God has always sent his Angels before the suffering arrives to you in order to protect you. Prayers with powerful Servants of God can help to remedy this prolonged sufferings which are normally assigned to Great people like Job, you, I and many others. Your dignity and physical destruction are the target of the Enemies but you should always trust in God and remove all egos to approach people who might help you in the mean time while trusting in God for his more provisions. The Blessings ahead for you are too much so the Devil wants to challenge you and see if your faith in God will be reduced so that you will not attend a Greater height in Life. $85,000 yearly income is small to compare with the blessings of God which are mapped out for you. You must continue the struggle and never quit because what you learn during these hard times will surely be the main tools that will be used to lift you up in life when this suffering is ended and the grace of God is restored within you. Pay attention to you dreams and pray before going to bed. I am happy that God has started a good work in my life after a Prophet of God told me what I was suffering from and then rebuked the evil spirits who were assigned against me. Thanks and all Glory be unto our God who created us in his own image that we should emulate him and pray only to him without worshiping any Idols. May God bless you from today and rebuke the evil spirit of suffering from you life in Jesus name. Amen!

        43. Jehovah bless you my friend. It is well. God will not let you fall. Just lean on him, read his word every day and stat in the secret place of prayer. Tell all what you feel and he will lift your burden.
Call if you need more counselling and prayer.03303902117 access 773674
          God bless Andrea

        44. Our suffering is as trials and tribulations that occur in everyone’s life. It’s a pain to want to get up and step foot into the society of today’s time. It’s a pain to live in today’s society as well. But since Jobs length of suffering cannot accurately be known I do not base his “time” of suffering based upon mind or others. Instead, I study his reserve not to quit on Gods amazing grace and mercy. Everyone account of suffering is different. Depending upon the work God has for you to do will determine the depiction of how we receive the depth of knowledge, understanding of the wisdom that God wishes us to know. To obtain the anointing of the purpose in which God has for us to perform. God is good. God is LIFE. We must never forget that God is not Death! Which is the reason Satan was not allowed to take Jobs life (just Job). His children were not devout as their Father. Be encouraged my sisters/brothers in God. Our sufferings does not necessarily have anything to do with us but has to do with God getting the glory over Satan and his arrogance. Also, where others will see Gods promises brought to life.

        45. Ma’am have you obeyed Acts 2:38 do you earnestly contend for the faith that was once delivered to the Saints Acts chapter 2, Acts chapter 8, Acts chapter 10, Acts chapter 19, they all received the baptism of the Holy Ghost speaking in other tongues as the spirit of God gave utterance, they were all baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.

        46. Shelley,
I will be praying for you. Asking GOD to remove all hindrance from you.

        47. SHELLEY, I WENT THROUGH 7 YEARS OF SICKNESS, THREE STROKES, SIZURES, MIGRAINE HEADACHES, COPD, SLEEP APNEA, ACID REFLUX, HIGH TRYGLISRIDES, AND CHLORESTROL, SINUS, RESPIRATORY, AND BLADDER INFECTIONS, PASSING KIDNEY STONES EVERY MONTH, PANREATIS OFF AND ON, TWO BAD KNEES NEEDING REPLACING, AND AN ENLARGED PROSTATE. I SPENT 7 YEARS OFF AND ON IN HOSPITALS, DOCTOR OFFICES, AND DRUG STORES. ALL THIS WAS CAUSED BY THE SIN OF ADULTERY I WAS LIVING IN AND BEEN CONVICTED OF THROUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT. THE CONVICTION CAME A FEW MONTHS AFTER WE MARRIED. WE REPENTED AND ASKED THE LORD TO FORGIVE OUR SINS, BUT WE DIDN’T COME OUT OF THAT SIN. SEVENS YEARS LATER I STARTED GETTING SICK AND FOR SEVEN YEARS I STAYED SICK UNTIL MY WIFE DIVORCED ME. AFTER WE DIVORCED I STARTED GETTING WELL, WITHOUT DOCTORS. I WAS TOTALLY HEALED OF ALL MY SICKNESSES IN OCTOBER 2015. I HAVEN’T BEEN IN A HOSPITAL, SEEN A DOCTOR OR TAKEN MEDICATIONS SINCE OCTOBER 2015. IN OUR LIFE WITH CHRIST JESUS, WE NEED TO STAY IN GOD’S WORD, PRAY CONSTANTLY, AND PRAISE HIM DAILY FOR HIS LOVING KINDNESSES. IF WE OPEN THE DOOR THROUGH UNREPENTED SINS WE DON’T GET OUT OF, WE OPEN THE DOOR FOR THE ENEMY SATAN TO COME IN AND TAKE OUR LIVES APART. HE DOES IT THROUGH SICKNESS, OUR MARRIAGES, OUR FINANCES AND ANY OTHER WAY HE CAN DESTROY US. THE LORD IS FAITHFUL TO USAND AS HE DID JOB HE KEEPS A HEDGE OF PROTECTION AROUND US. BUT WHEN WE SIN AND DON’T COME OUT IT, THE HEDGE OF PROTECTION IS MOVED, ALLOWING THE ENEMY TO COME AGAINST US. IT WAS REVEALED TO ME THAT THE ONES THE LORD LOVES HE CHASTENS, IF HE DIDN’T WE WOULD BE BASTARD CHILDREN. PRAISE GOD FOR HIS CHASTENING! I AM FREE AND HAPPIER THAN I HAVE EVER BEEN, PRAISE BE TO JESUS, MY SAVIOR. SIN IS A VERY SERIOUS THING. IT CAN BE UNFORGIVENESS, WE DON’T EVEN REALIZE. PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPIRIT AND ASK THE FATHER TO LOOK DEEP INSIDE OF YOU AND REVEAL ANYTHING THAT IS NOT PLEASING TO HIM AND ASK HIM TO HELP YOU GET AWAYA FROM THAT SIN. I LOVE YOU IN JESUS.

        48. Please listen to Minister Kevin Ewing on YouTube you will find his teachings a wonderful blessing. He bases everything on the word of God. It has truly been a blessing to my entire family and we have seen blessings after blessings happen in our lives. I know it will happen to you. God bless I will forever pray for you. God bless.

        49. I can relate to your feelings. I have raised a rebellious ungrateful teen grandson for 18+ years who challenges me every moment of my life. The last 6 years alone after my husband committed suicide and 15 months before that lost our 36year old son after dealing with his alcohol problem for 10 years. Ten violent years and now 6 yrs of hell with a violent grandson who will not respect authority and is not able to be on his own due to trouble he’s in and mental issues. I’m 70 with failing health and funds. I only want peace and to be able to fit into society with my church friends of many years. But I’m a freak. I can’t leave my house without worrying about this boy burning it down. Restraining order won’t stop him from entering. He’s been in jail but made him worse. Job suffered but far less time than I have and I see no hope for me except death just like it crossed Jobs mind. Don’t misunderstand. I’m not taking my life but I do have many days not worth living. I love God and put my trust and hope in him but I’ll never have peace in this side of eternity.Job was repaid before death but I have no expectations of anything getting anything but worse in my lifetime. I pray constantly and steal what joy i can but it’s only moments at a time. So yes I understand how you feel and why you need answers. When you are doing the best you can and others who put less effort into life are prospering more it’s hard not to question “why”. Love and prayers for you.

          1. I really empathize with your situation Ms Marsha. Is it possible that you commit your grandson in a State Mental Hospital for now while you go and stand in gap for him on a deliverance ground.

If you want further information about deliverance you can google The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival church on you-tube. Or call my cell phone and leave me a message. @ 6092229876.

I pray that your grandson will be set free from bondage of satan IJN amen.

        50. I completely understand I am praying 4 u gb lance

        51. With you in prayer. Know that God hears and answers prayer. Be encouraged. He never leaves or forsakes is. Please take time and look at the wonderful promises in the book of Ephesians. Chapters 1-3. Be nourished and filled with the fullness of Christ Himself. You are loved!

        56. I pray that since you posted this that you still are keeping faithful to God. I came to this website because what one of my church members is going thru and I was looking to see how long Job actually suffered. This man is very faithful to God, has been all his life and I continue to pray for him and his wife. I will also include you in my prayers.

        58. Read Matthew 10. M suffering from lukemia so what shud i do arrodrng to u?? V have to undergo many tribulations n tests to enter the kingdom of God dear.. It’s not piece of cake don’t give up. Read Graham staines story which took place in India where i leave. 59. Hi friend,

I hope that things have turned out for the better for you.
Your story resonates with me as I’m in a similar situation right now.

          May God bless you.

      5. Very wise words. So very wise. Well said.

      6. Well said Mark and Shazznem
It was the knowing of how he went about persecuting the saints. He was healed of blindness, and persecution is what all the Christian’s suffered at that time. This had to be the must humbling thought when considering God’s mercy toward his action against him.(God). In job case although it is not stated the length of his suffering, we can be sure that what ever it was it brought Job to a humble state of mine. To suffer mentally, spiritually, and physically is devastating. Those days and month probably seem like years even if they weren’t The devil do send out his demons to torment try to persuade you to give up one way are another. But God!!! Will see you through if you continue to walk by faith and not by sight.

        1. I love all the comments and responses.
I have gone through many moments of lack loss financial crisis and cried this morning. Lost my home my cars, and cried in fear…until I remembered Romans 8:1. Wondered why, why, why until I read Job1:1-4 did you know Job is the only servant of Yahowah God that he bragged on besides Yeshua Immanuel. Suicide can never be an option because I am not my own but a servant of The GREAT I AM.
I search deep in me to find my wrong that I might have done and not have repented. I ask for growth in HIM that is GOD to show me HIS Will. And I smile at HIS GLORY HIS LOVE HIS GRACE because my yesterday shines greatly in the light of others that have suffered a life time of never having food, water, freedom, unable to even envision hope.
My moment isn’t good and it halts my ability to live without assistance and to give to those in the tortures of life like the ongoing human trafficking, the sick children in third world countries, St. Jude which is the only real facility seeking and researching for a cure. Shriner’s Hospital, a place where a child can become the best he or she can with hope. All the others can’t afford a cure like those varied societies where people have gained self joy and notoriety like MS society, Cancer society, all of these seek treatment not cures.
Then I Praise GOD that I didnt have to go through Job’s storm all his children die at one time and before he can mourn he loses and loses and loses his wife is out of wits screaming he should curse or cuss GOD and die.
I am out of work over 45 and living with friends been dealing with this after a bout with illness loss lack and I too have recently seen a rack of jobs that hire but its brief due to downsizing or I accepted knowing I was over qualified. Which meant they could get someone at a lower rate of pay or 2 people.
Reading all of the things written that y’all have shared I thank you all. I am greatly greatly blessed

      7. Amen, I am currently enduring a wilderness time, what you said is vitally important, also being certain we as Christ’s children are not tested beyond what we are able to bear

      8. Amen & Amen

      9. Having went through a situation similar to Job. I must say, this is the best advice yet.

      10. How old was Job when his trials began.
Yes! In Job chapter 42, It was recorded that Job lived a 140yrs after his restoration. But, what information to back up how old he was before his troubles began.
Need an urgent respond from scholars please!

      11. your comment has given me life in the time of suffering. I would like to communicate further with you on this topic if possible.

    3. About whether Job would have succumbed, should his suffering have lasted years rather than months. The thing is that God is not wicked. It is not his will that his people suffer, especially if there is no greater good coming out of the suffering. God tells us in His Word in 1Corth 10:13 that “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to humanity. God is faithful, and He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation He will also provide a way of escape so that you are able to bear it.” If God allows it to come your way, it is because He knows you have what it takes to overcome and shame the devil. And he know how long you can take it. God is a good God.

      1. then why do people do it? why do they commit suicide??? And if its not his will for his people to suffer then why does it happen? I know a good godly christian woman who has had nothing BUT suffering her entire life, 40+ years of it. Getting old.

        1. Rhonda I noticed no one had addressed you since you responded. The thing that we have to understand about God and the spirit is that he does not see things the way we see things. What I mean by this is we really have to take a hard look as what we define as suffering. What does suffering mean. Example, to a millionaire, suffering is losing half his worth. But to a middle class person if they had half of what the millionaire had they would be considered blessed. To someone with the use of all their limbs, being told they can never walk again is suffering however to the person thats been in a wheel chair their whole life, it is just that. Its life. Magic Johnson has had aids for decades. Is that a lifelong suffering or is he a walking testimony. It depends on how YOUR flesh looks at it. Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder blind for life. Lifelong suffering or a testimony that God can use anyone. Sometimes our flesh can get in the way of rational Godly thinking and he gives grace for that.

          1. I have been going through suffering and calamities for quite some time now. I purchased a home 9 years ago only to live in it a while, under a year then move because of all the problems in the home. 1 I had a water that had to be repaired because a animal got caught in the line. I had to have the cement floor in the basement cracked to repair the line. 2 I had an outside water line crack and had to pay to have the line corrected outside the home with PVC lines. 3 I had faulty wiring inside the home. There were 8 electrical lines wired to one outlet. Each time I had to move with my mother who was ill. Through all of that I may have lived in the home for 2 years throughout the 9.
After watching my mothers health decline I deciddd to move with her in 2012. But I kept my home, I couldn’t rent it out because it needed work done to it and couldn’t afford to because I had to help my mother while living with her. I remember getting so discouraged and depressed just wondering why I had to walk through these things.
The day of my home closing when I purchased it I had to go to my mothers because everything I had saved for my home I had to give to her because hers was in foreclosure. I just wept! I didn’t understand the purpose again. I questioned why bless me with the house if I couldn’t be in it!!
Eventually I began to accept that I was suppose to get the home because if any other family would have purchased it they may have died from an electrical fires from all the bad wiring.
In 2016 my mother passed. She left me her home, but I remained depress because of everything I walked through while living with her prior to buying my home and after. It just did not feel like my own and the atmosphere was depressing. However because her home was the bigger of the two I chose to stay there because it suited the needs for my children.
During the first year of her passing her brother began to spend a lot of time with me. He understood how I felt and my mother and my relationship. So he began to help me redecorate and paint just to give the home so new life, because it was a family home for all gatherings. And everyone who visited was somber after her passing.
In 2016 my uncle who was helping me passed. It was 14 months after my mother. By this time o was completely lost and devastated. I sought counseling and didn’t continue because I did not want to take meds!!!
The entire time of All this I had a relationship with God, it’s the only way I kept my sanity. But I had no peace, I was filled with anger hurt and dissapointment.
In January I received a phone call telling me my father had a stroke. I had to pray before I went to the hospital because I did not want to face any more deaths!! He survived and God blessed him that the stroke had no effects. However 2 days later, while walking through the mall my hemmorhoids flared up and I couldn’t take a step. I’ve only had thus problem once before in my life. I go to the hospital inflamed and swollen to be told I need immediate surgery. I went to see another Dr. Proctologist, only to find out they are not doing surgery and I have fissure tears. (Rips in the rectum). They gave me cream for them and said they would heal in there own in about 4-6 weeks.. They did not. I lead bedridden for over 70 days unable to stand or sit.
During that time I lost my home, that was being renovated with a prospective buyer, my vehicle and suffered in bed without pay for 6 weeks of the four months I was off.
I remember the day my truck was taken, the last ride where I had a bowel movement all over myself where it ran down my legs when I got out the vehicle and the pain from having the bm. With the fissure tears everytime you have a bowel movement your rectum goes into spasms, which feel like knives stabbing you for hours. My spasms were 8-12 hours long non stop!! And nothing relieves the pain.
While going through this I kept a journal which helped me a lot. I was able to release all the anger, bitterness rejection dejection and depression. I held on to the things God told me and knew it was for my good because the one thing I had through out was peace!! My peace increased when I released the need to be in control and the anger and resentment of my life’s dissapountments!! I learned to draw closer to God and ask for more things to help my spirit instead of the material possesions. Don’t get me wrong I have my days when I feel low, but that’s when I write more and tell myself all the promises God has for me and it helps to fill my mind with hope instead of depression.
I would like to tell you I’ve gained my material possesions back because this is the year of restoration and the year of Jubilee, However I can’t. But I will say the new peace and fresh perspective and increased hope I have is far greater!! I know God is not through with me and He has a plan for me and will proved my every need!!
So to anyone going through always remember it could be worse and find peace through your storm!! God wants to heal us on the inside before the outside!!! He is a Good God and is faithful to His Word. Hold on and remain steadfast and hopeful praying everyday!! Be encouraged you are not alone!!!

          2. Amen, I agree with you- may the Lord help us to see things from his perspective. My late mum was the weakest, struggled with asthma but she raised me and my little sister all by herself. Her stong sisters died young before 40 years. That my mum lived up to 58 years is a testimony because we all though she would die earlier than the rest since she was always on and off. The Lord kept her alive and achieved a lot than the the rest of her family members. Despite her situation, she was a strong believer in the Lord, very prayerful and always pleading with her younger sisters to come to the Lord.

          3. Amen! Powerful wisdom! Thank you for blessing me!

        2. Yes, I have been in the valley of hell for 10 years now, don’t know how much more I can take. Tried to commit suicide already, and ended up with testimony instead. I know Jesus is real, but why did he save me only to allow me to suffer longer. It’s been 3 years since he saved me but my life is still a struggle. I don’t get it. I guess I deserve to suffer

          1. Hi Mark. No you do not deserve to suffer. This video might help. He is a very knowledgeable minister. You can look into some of his other videos on his YouTube channel. They are very powerful. He explains why we as Christians suffer and what we are lacking that’s not taught in Churches. We have to focus on spiritual warfare and dealing with the spirit realm. Hope this helps. I really encourage u to watch a few. U might get some answers you have been looking for. I myself have been suffering with undiagnosed pain related illness for up to 4 years now after getting out of the Army. And I have been very downhearted. God Bless you and help us all.

          2. Trust in the Kord with all of your heart and lean not unto your own understanding but in all of your ways acknowledge Him. JESUS LOVES YOU. Surrender unto the Lord. Let go and let God have His way in your life.

        3. Rhonda, wether we are Christians or not the bible says that the rain falls on the just and unjust. Sometimes as believers we don’t have the understanding about generational curses that still need to be broken, crooked places made straight. As believers life will not be all pink color,we must suffer like Christ suffered becasue that builds character if we respond well to the trial. Anyone who commits suicide spiritually or physically has lost self preservation, but they were created with the power to choose, the devik cannot choose, but we can. God gave us that. The battle is all in the mind, that’s where the devil will attack first if he can get to your mind than he might defet you,but you see thats why Jesus wore a crown of thorns representing He would wear the curse in the mind so we wouldn’t have to. we just have to believe this. God also gives us the helmet of salvation,a helmet is worn over your head(mind). we get the helmet of salvation thru repentance and water baptism.

        4. Alot of people do not want to believe that someone can place a hex on you. There are many ways to make one suffer upon this Earth. I pray GOD increase her strength and send forth comfort unto her in Jesus Name.

        5. What’s 40 years compared with ETERNITY?

      2. Doesn’t your answer prove just how horrible God actually is? He lets people be tortured just because they can take it. So because I’m strong I’m forced to live a life of unending agony just because? How could I ever want to spend one moment with that kind of asshole if I didn’t have to

    4. Some authors (e.g. http://www.biblestudytools.com/dictionaries/eastons-bible-dictionary/job.html) say he suffered one hundred and twenty years.

      1. This reference speaks of how long Job lived/survived after his trial, not how long the trial lasted.
He survived the period of trial for one hundred and forty years, and died in a good old age,

    5. At the time, sickness was not a part of people’s lives. Remember, this is very early in the life of humanity.

    6. No i dont believe he would. I havent.
I also believe the the time was 7 years. Its used alot in the bible. Just my thought

    7. No he will not check job 1vs13-22,: 5vs17-19,:13vs15,: 14vs7-9. Job believed God with all of his heart (he trusts God)

    8. No he would not have. We only think he might have because we know that WE would have.

    9. job like any other man has his limits. and jehovah God does not allow his creation to be tested outside its limits.

    10. Did you forget that job 14:14 says all the days of my appointed time will I wait until my change come?. He had already resolved in his mind to wait

    11. No, for God had told satin that he could torture Job but could not kill him.

    12. Well i would say no he would not . i myself have been through a Daniel a david and a job but my testing has gone on for over 50 years i am 55 right now and i will say that my faith has been tested, stretched, pulled if fact there is not much that i have not been through but i have served our lord over and over praying, preaching , teaching ,feeding the hungry clothing the naked visiting the orphans tithing , evangelizing , showing the love of God helping, lifeing up and being faithful i have suffered great pain anguish i am acquainted with greaf i have known treachery so deep it allmost ripped my heart out and i know struggles very well even today i am still waiting on Gods promises to me and my tears are my food BUT MY FAITH IS STRONG AND NO MATTER WHAT EVEN THROUGH HE SLAYS ME I SHALL TRUST GOD MY HEAVENLY FATHER AND I SHALL HANG ON AND HANG ON AMEN PRAISE GOD AMEN

    13. No he would not have succumbed if it were years, reason being there are many people like Job who suffered and are suffering almost their whole life but have not succumbed because they know right from the wrong and know who they worship in life and in death.

    14. God knew Job’s heart and as we can acknowledge from the scriptures the majority of his distress came within hours. That in itself could have killed him physically (heart attack). But rather than cursing God he cursed himself. So no, I think he was prepared to maintain his integrity to the end. Job wanted to die rather than to curse God.

    15. What if, as with GOD, before man, time was measured differently? How would we know?

    16. I believe that if it was years he would wait till his change come.

    17. No God still had His hands upon him

  2. Good question Muchiri. Good answer Margaret. This helps.

  3. I was listening to Joel Osteen and he mention that Job suffering was for nine months. Don’t know how he came up with that, but ok.

  4. for how long should a normal suffering last, it seams some sufferings are more sturbon

    1. I’ve been suffering for more than 21 yrs

      1. No matter the cause of the suffering, whether is your mistakes or errors in the Past or not.
God wants to Receive the Glory through that suffering.

      2. Annette, I believe in what you say because I have been in suffering for just the same as Job for more than 25 years. I am getting stronger by the power of prayers and growing spiritually which is my only anchor in these times of tests and trials because I know without a shadow of doubt who is my only living God. God the Father, the three in ONE!

    2. Evans: hahaha. I guess so- depending on the purpose it serves.

  5. although, there are stubborn problems, you must be sensitive enough to know and understand what the purpose of that suffering is. Understand that there was a case filed against Job by Satan. That Job was only serving God because of money and health. So God needed to prove Satan wrong. How long a problem lasts is not relevant; what is relevant is what it makes out of you. Always remember: Isaacs, Samuels, John the Baptist, and Job’s double portion doesn’t come anyhow.

  6. you must be tested before you can be trusted. After many years of Abraham’s service to God; God never trusted Abraham until when God tested him with Isaac and he passed. God said to him: Now I Know that You fear and love me. He was tested likewise Job needed to be. But, also mark that not all suffering comes from God. You must be able to identify when affliction is coming against God’s will for your life and rebuke it without hesitation.

  7. i know that but my question was how manny years he suffered job and how longer past before jehovah blest him.

  8. Job lost his children. That suffering would have been with him for life.

    1. I disagree it wasnt for life time coz God remembered Job and gave to him what he wanted or needed.

  9. Just found your book and info 🙂 Would like to interview someone on my show about your amazing timeline please.

    1. Thank you. I sent you an email and look forward to the interview

      1. Thanks for all ur moral support.

  10. I thnk we serve a wonderful who knows the end, so i thnk Job was going to pass any test that God was going to allow satan to try satan for God instructed satan on what to do. So whatever period He suffered God was still control

  11. No one can confidently say how long Job suffered because a thousand years to man is like one day in the sight of God. The lessons of patience and perseverance in the story of Job should be enough to occupy the human mind.

    1. Word of wisdom

  12. so shall we conclude by saying no one realli knws how long he suffered before and after and onli we are sure is 7 days n nights.

  13. I too have asked that question how long did Job suffer I have read this book many times & have just finished reading it again today I now think it’s just as well we don’t know for we would want our suffering time to end the same length of time as his. I always write notes & date them when I read the Bible & 1 of the question I wrote before was was the memory of his suffering all forgotten? Or did he ever think in the back of his mind it might all happen again? Also I think Job’s so called friends were worse than his suffering their words to him were horrible. Maybe the 7 bulls & 7 rams could be 7 months for 7 months is a long time 7 years even longer God would not give him or us more than we can bear. I believe every 1 goes through a Job time saved or unsaved at least once in their lifetime I don’t know how the non Christian copes without God but He rains down His goodness on the just & the unjust.

    1. Non Christians don’t go through what we go through because they don’t need to. The reason we go through times of tests and trials is to break us down and away from our Heavenly Father.
Non believers go through events to seek the Lord to solve their problems. In all we all go through difficult times for different reasons and purposes. Depends on your heart condition. Remember God never forces anyone to love Him. He is a loving God that gives us all a freedom of choice.

  14. Thanks lot! It was great to know.

  15. I asked this question cause am in unceasing pain believing God that it’s almost over but it seems I don’t seem to see the end of the tunnel I need to encourage myself in the Lord I also need to be sure that it’s a situation that God allowed not an affliction of the enemy to hinder Destiny that’s why I asked Joe long was job’s affliction. thank you

  16. i believe Job was tested ACCORDING to the measure of FAITH/TRUST GIVEN TO Job IN GOD the Father , God the SON {JESUS} and GOD the Holy Spirit, Genesis, Let US make man in our image because Satan had to ask for permission to test Job, and GOD said Job will pass the test..and Job did. also in the new testament of the gospel of the good news of Jesus the Christ…. faith is a GIFT OF GOD, we are saved by Grace through Faith and that is a gift of God so that no man should boast. also to each man is given a measure of faith it is a spiritual Gift of the Lord, through the power of the Holy Spirit as Jesus ascended into heaven and is sitting at the right hand of the Father until His return. yu can look up gifts of the HOLY SPIRIT. faith is also the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not yet seen,,so we get the saying the PATIENCE OF jOB, LOVE IS THE MOST DESIRED GIFT OF ALL JOHN, 3 16 FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN, THAT HE WHO BEIVES IN HIM BY fAITH SHALL NOT PERISH BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE Job could not have endured his testing without faith, love hope patience trust we are tried and tested, according to our faith, i believe, even when we have sinned.. but Jesus paid our penalty of sin for us on the cross. yes, Job wanted to die, and satan was there to try and test him ,, but suicide is not an option, it is demonic….spiritual, ephesians, chapt 6- verse 12 explains our battle is not of flash and n blood but a mspiritual mbattle,, God veres Satan.. back to satan having to ask God, to test /temp Job.[

  17. My husband has been in a coma brain dead and paralyse for 6 years, going 7 years going to 2016, we lost everything our home with my 3 kids and everything and living with my parents. Praying daily and spiritual grounded. How long do I stand

    1. Please, my sister, kindly accept my empathy. Regarding how long you will wait, no man can tell you how long. But you must make sure you are not disconected from the ONE who will visit your sotuation one day and give you the victory at last. Please remmber this “IN GOD’S WAITING ROOM, THERE IS NO WAITING IN VAIN”. May God’s grace be sufficient for you and your husband and soonest you will sing a victorious song. Amen!

    2. Hello petunia, in response to your question, remember when the children of Israel was in captivity for four hundred and thirty years; the Bible said they cried out unto God and sent them a prophet who delivered them from their afflictions. Now if you can take my counsel, look for a prophet anointed by God and you will solution. I recommend you prophet T.B Joshua. But you do I will encourage you to watch some of his programmes on YouTube and channel 390. This could be the answer you have been looking for. God bless.

      1. Dont look to prophet td joshua but to Christ who died for u.blessed is aman who trust in the Lord..he is like a tree planted by river side!

  18. I know that Job did not suffer forever.God has given us times and seasons-Ecc3:1to
    14. In 1 Corinthians 10:13 says that God will not suffer us to be tempted above our ability. The lesson there is that God is a rewarder of those who trust in Him. He rewarded Job. Job 42:12 to 17, James 5 : 10&11.

  19. Reading all comments has been very helpful, praying for my children who was bought up in the church bit seem to think God is not the God they were bought up to believe in because of their constant trials and suffering, lo ok king thru scriptures believing God will allow his words to be planted as a seed in their spirit. A little help please.

  20. There are times we go through situation we just don’t understand why and what’s the cause of it just as I went to bed woke up one hour later with a complete different spirit for eight months now I’ve praying fasting seeking help but still going through. One thing I do know God time is not ours it may seems unbearable but what can we do what can we say. If we are wise don’t give up prove yourself to be faithful even in these temptation God will make a way.

  21. Well I have been in constant suffering in my body for over twenty years I have believed what keeps me going is my faith in Jesus sometimes I’m extremely overwhelmed with people actions towards me now I’m in a lions den and I really want to come out I’ve been attacked in my heart all I needs is people’s prayers and God’s mercy cos I’m not a sinner my daughters life is in danger my husband not a believer who often abandon us

  22. I also wonder how long does suffering last. My wife has been suffering with chronic pain and other medical issues for over ten years. The conditions have caused her to have major mood swings and harsh depression. I have been praying and trying to encouraging her through it all but sometimes she doesn’t want to hear it. Sometimes I wonder if and when this will pass and when she will be healed. It’s a big strain on my heart and mind. I just wonder.

    1. I am sorry to learn of your wife’s suffering. Chronic illnesses are very difficult for the person and those who love them. And I have no good answers.

      1. Thank you for the possitive comments and response… It has blessed me.. Great forum let’s keep it up…

    2. It’s always difficult to raise praises and worship songs at the moment of depression, but most cases if you force your self to practice it, you eventually receive unimaginable healing beyond human comprehension. No chronic illness before creator(God) of universe. Why not try praises, an irresistible tool that pierces heaven…

    3. Try learning about the vegan eating lifestyle. No dairy, no meat, etc. I had debilitating pain for many years but once I switched to this type of daily eating I am now pain free. Watch the documentary on Netflix called “What the health?” It will explain a lot. Get with a professional that can develop an eating plan for your wife and you may be amazed at the difference it will make in her pain. I hope this helps. God works in mysterious ways.

  23. Daniel was thrown in the lions den Shedrack, Mishack and Abendigo was thrown in the firery furnace overnight these four mighty men of GOD the result was suppose to be instant death. It always seems easy out and difficult to be in. Our attitude determine our altitude Peter was thrown into prison but sing a song. I’m in sympathy for our situation but while we looking for a miracle we need to understand what we are even going through is also a miracle. There is know situation worse than hell when a person lift up his eyes there. Our trials might seems great but theres a greater blessing after this. this life aint a permanent one anyway the best is yet to come. God is protecting us probably from eternal domination. JOB situation is Job situation GOD HAS SOMETHING UNIQUE FOR YOU IN SECRET

  24. Suffering is hard stuff. I’ve been struggling for the best part of 8 years. Frankly turning my back on God is a no no. But other than my crawling in faith in Him. Its has led me to being fearful I seem to expect another jab for every new thing I try, at this point I remember verses like the Proverb 17:22 and the parable of a good father not giving a snake for a fish and it leaves me very perplexed. I start to wonder what posture God is looking at me with or is my understanding of God wrong. But still I make the prayer and read the bible because it would be so dark without them. After all He is God and you could suffer all the days here and all He is is interested in is that you seek Him I could be wrong but honestly speaking at this moment its all I see.

  25. Periodic suffering is an integral challenge of life. However some suffering are product of ignorance on our part, some are self-inflicted and some come upon us due to violation of natural and divine laws. But I have learnt to pray to God to show me the root cause of my affliction and he has been merciful to reveal them and in most instances, the solution, has not been what I expected. I recently relocated to England from Africa but during my first winter I developed severe itching which does not respond to all the medications that I was given. I prayed all manners of prayers but there was no respite. I dread the night because it is most severe and couldn’t sleep. Out of my frustration I prayed to God to show me the root cause and the Lord opened my eyes to see that the WINTER MOULD growing on the wall is some part of the hous4 was the culprit. Immediately I painted the walls that was the end of my affliction. Praise God.

  26. Reading through these comments has been extremely helpful to me. I have been going through a financial crisis for 7 months. None of it makes sense to me and I have had points of it being so dark and me having to spend days just reading scriptures on encouragement. I have totally surrendered and I am looking forward to the victory because God has no respect of a person so I will receive a double return in the name of Jesus. God bless.

  27. I just finished rereading the book of Job. His wife said to him, “Are you still maintaining your integrity? Curse God and die!” I don’t ever hear anyone mention that his wife lost and suffered just as much as Job did. I get the feeling she was very angry with God. Can we assume Job only had one wife? This means she had already had ten children and later ten more.

  28. I have went through almost every type of suffering there is and I can say for myself that physical suffering is by far the worst. When you’re in pain and feel so so bad you don’t feel like praying as you normally would and you start to slip. You don’t want to read the word as much and if you don’t feel like going to church it’s doubly hard to hold on to God. Does anyone relate to this?

    1. I can relate. Been reading these posts today. I have had junenile onset diabetes (type one). For 37 years. Severe depression for the past two years. I often wish that nature had taken its course, and I would have died young. Have been reading the book of Job recently, and that is how I came across this website. I pray and hope that God can restore me. Nothing yet, that I can perceive.

  29. In and through it all, we must remember that Jesus came to give us a great and sweet life. We must constantly cast all our cares on Him and insist on our joy! The truth is many times He’s helping us by His Spirit to use His Word and beat whatever comes our way. Everything you’re going through will surely pass away but His Word always wins out! Stick to the Word and be joyous always.

  30. James 1:2-4New International Version (NIV)

    Trials and Temptations
2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
