Does The Bible Say Dead Birds Will Fall From the Sky?

Does the bible talk about dead birds falling from the sky and fish dying in the sea as signs in the bible? Brad

Answer: Two prophets, Hosea and Zephaniah, in the Old Testament speak of birds and fish being swept away or consumed. The question is, are these prophets referring to end times or to prior times Israel was destroyed? Here are the verses referring to these calamities: Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel:

Birds in the sky

for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because [there is] no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.  By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood. Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away. Hosea 4:1-3 KJV I will consume man and beast; I will consume the fowls of the heaven, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumblingblocks with the wicked; and I will cut off man from off the land, saith the LORD. Zephaniah 1:3 KJV We should never take verses out of the context of the whole chapter.  Read the book.

These men were prophesying of specific kings and during the times of specific kings. Hosea speaks of Jeroboam while Zephaniah prophecies during the reign of the righteous King Josiah – so the people could not blame their unrighteousness on the king’s command. We can be assured that they were prophesying of times of destruction of ancient Israel, and their prophecies came to pass.  In other words, these prophecies have been fulfilled. But the pestilences and famines foretold as signs of the times for the last days most likely involve animals as well as man.  Here’s more on the signs of the times. Here is the opposite viewpoint:  Yes these are signs of the times.

  1. nearby BOSTON birds have fallen from the sky is this the end of days need answer in reference to bible

  2. jesus diciples literally asked him, ” what will be the sign of your prescence and of the last days?”
    found in matthew 24:3-14
these are the “signs” that the end of this world is coming soon
but as for dead birds falling from the sky, jesus makes NO mention of any such sign.

    1. But it DOES state it in the bible –
“By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood. Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away. Hosea 4:1-3 KJV I will consume man and beast; I will consume the fowls of the heaven, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumblingblocks with the wicked; and I will cut off man from off the land, saith the LORD.” Zephaniah 1:3

As we should all know that a FOWL is a BIRD and when it says, “Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the FOWLS OF HEAVEN; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.”
The fowls meaning birds and of heaven could be of the sky, so to me that is mentioning the death of birds in the bible.

      1. This caught my eye thank you. I believe Jesus will be back soon. Amen

        1. He’s definitely gathering the birds in these days because
He Is Coming Any Minute !!❤️

          1. They are falling every where for years now it was a warning sign that some of us missed but i don’t think its to late read your bible prepare know your bible know god like a father and get to know the people from the bible as if they are your family god will bless you for doing good works yes Yashua (jesus) died on cross for us but doesn’t mean u shouldn’t be a good person you should and im saying this to whom ever reads be the best person you can be help others in need really think what would god want us to do the father and the son would both want us to help as many as we can and do the right thing and the lord will take care of us and not let us struggle to badly because we are his children and if anyone doesn’t believe in god think about this for a sec 1 times something there will always be more but 0 times something will always be 0. Then that means god always had to be here he’s the 1 so there could be all of us basic math i have died and seen hell that’s why i changed i still need work but i felt this would be best way to get u to look at it cuz u believe unless u see with your own eyes and i know u can all do basic math

      2. But soon on His time could mean many things. No one knows when this will be. And His time could be 100 years away still.

        1. Read revelations. There are signs of the times, for he comes as a theif in the night for those unaware but for those keeping watch, we will be prepared.

        2. It’s not as important to know “when” He is coming, as to know you are right with God and ready for His coming.

      3. Precisely, truth will come too pass,ye hypocrites a vicous evil godless generation that refuse to repent and confess there is a one true god who created all life with seed too reproduce its the end of the age great tribulation is now unfolding

  3. That’s right those of us with eyes to see and ears to hear it means the Lords saints the people who pray to him and for his knowledge and understanding to be upon us we see and hear what is happening clearly when the rest of the world will not see or hear which means they will not understand what is happening right in front of them because they have denied Jesus Christ so the Lord has not removed the Veil from their eyes so they can see clearly , I pray that everyone in the world Seeks Jesus Christ and repents of their sins confess with your mouth that he died on the cross for our sins the at he rose on the third day and he is alive and coming again that you are a sinner in need if a savior and ask Jesus to come into your heart do it today before its too late the end days are here

  4. Wow…let us all turn to God ..believe Jesus died and tose to take position to be the chosen on for us…may we turn to Jesus and ask for forgiveness that we may be spared in the last days and our name will be in the books of life…i believe everyone has a guardian angel that writes everything in the book that pertains to situations in your life whether good or bad 4 preparations when the Lord returns those things will be what you will be judged on from your deeds while on earth…bad and good this is my belief……..

  5. Maybe we should consider some alternative perspectives, such as the Savior’s? Consider the Parable of The Sower:

“And He told them many things in parables, saying, “Behold, the sower went out to sow; and as he sowed, some seeds fell beside the road, and the BIRDS CAME AND ATE THEM UP. “Others fell on the rocky places, where they did not have much soil; and they sprang up immediately, because they had no depth of soil. “But after the sun rose, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. Others fell among the thorns, and the thorns came up and choked them out. “But others fell on the good soil and yielded a crop, some a hundred, some sixty, and some thirty times as much. The one who has ears, let him hear.” – Matthew 13:3-9

Verse 9 ought to clue us in to the level of depth, especially with the warning in vs. 13. The disciples, confounded, later asked about this.

In Matthew 13:19, Jesus explains directly that the Birds are “The Evil One”. Mark’s Gospel tells us that the Birds are “Satan”, who comes and takes away the Word. (Mark 4:15.) Luke’s Gospel explains further that the “Birds of the Air” ate it up (Luke 4:5), and then explains in Luke 4:12 that this is the “Devil”.

But where does that leave us?

Interesting to note the idea of the “Air” as noted alongside Ephesians 2:2.
But back to the question: “Does the Bible say dead birds will fall from the sky?

Revelation 18:1-5 gives the impression that there is more to play here than just “Fowl.”
Verse 2. “And he cried out with a mighty voice, saying, “FALLEN, FALLEN is Babylon the great! She has become a dwelling place of DEMONS and a prison of every UNCLEAN SPIRIT, and a prison of EVERY UNCLEAN AND HATEFUL BIRD.” (Emphasis mine.)

Most believers I know do not distinguish between clean and unclean. They have been taught that such has no relevance…Seems to be quite relevant to Biblical Eschatology, and could suggest the opposite of our author’s assumptions.
